Trends That Have Gone Too Far: Pumpkin Spice & Everything (Not So) Nice

Updated: Oct 21, 2020

Pumpkin Spice has taken over the Fall season. From pumpkin spice lattes and ice cream to pumpkin spice cake and candy, you name it - someone has probably put it into some form of an edible or smellable thing. For those who want to know more about it, let's dive into how the hype became the season's hottest trend.

Pumpkin spice is a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves originally created for pumpkin pie. The seasoning rose to popularity in the 2010s era of 'basic girls'. You know, the stereotypical PSL drinking, ugg wearing, girls. But over the years, the American consumer's love for all things pumpkin has evolved as more brands have released their own pumpkin spice flavored - or scented - items.

If you think you've seen it all...just wait. Here are eleven things you did not know were pumpkin-spice inspired.

Brach's Pumpkin Spice Candy Corn

We like to call this one a modern twist on a fall classic. With their recent release of Turkey Dinner Candy Corn, we've learned when it comes to fall flavors, it's best to expect the unexpected.

Pumpkin Spice Peeps

This spring classic has decided to take over a new season. Move over candy corn, these marshmallows are trying to take the number one holiday spot.

Pumpkin Spice Hard Seltzer

The rise of hard seltzers has taken the alcohol market by storm, so of course, we had to know this one was coming. Spice up your life with these fizzy drinks and maybe it will lead to some more spice in the night - if you know, you know.

Pumpkin Spice Deodorant

Now you don't have to just eat the pumpkin flavors, but you can also sweat it out with pumpkin-scented deodorant. Two senses are better than one after all - right? This organic deodorant is here for a limited time, so stock up on it now at your local Target.

Pumpkin Icing Shampoo, Shower Gel, & Bubble Bath

Have you ever wanted to just float in a pumpkin wonderland? Well, now you can thanks to another one of Philosophy's shimmering, all-in-one creations. This perfect seasonal blend will leave your skin feeling nourished and smelling like a snack.

Pumpkin Spice Greenies

Bad pup breath? No problem. Humans aren't the only ones who get to enjoy pumpkins. Give your pup a sweet treat while helping strengthen their teeth. Just like humans, the pups may feel the hit when the seasons over and they have to wait a whole year for it to come back.

Pumpkin Spice Detail Spray

Can't get enough of pumpkin spice? Take it with you wherever you go - literally. This detail spray will keep your car clean, shiny, and smelling like a fresh pumpkin patch all season long.

Pumpkin Pie Spice Pringles

At this point, it's starting to feel like as soon as fall approaches, marketing teams just default to anything pumpkin related. Pringles did it with a limited edition dessert chip that's very different from their typical savory ones. Tread lightly.

Pumpkin Pie Hummus

Dessert hummus is the new Cool Whip as assortments ranging from chocolate hummus to pumpkin pie hit grocery shelves. If you're looking for a healthy alternative for pumpkin pie - just treat yourself and eat the pumpkin pie - but if you're serious about a strict diet, give it a try.

Pumpkin Spice Beard Oil

Fellas, there's no better way to win over someone's heart, than with a full beard that smells like the comfort of being home. This beard oil makes sure males get some loving too, after all, it is cuffing season and No-Shave November is right around the corner!

Pumpkin Spice Toilet Paper

It's important to note the cardboard roll is actually the only pumpkin-scented part of this item. If you are just as confused about this product as we were, we suggest reading some of the hilarious Amazon reviews.

Pumpkin Spice Spam

Just when you thought nothing else could be pumpkin spice-ified, Spam joins the gang with a limited edition flavored pork. We won't knock it 'til we try it, but let's just say, we're a little hesitant for good reason.

Did we shock you with these items? Because we sure are surprised ourselves. By 2025, we might just have pumpkin spice bricks so your home can smell like pumpkins all year round (inside and out).

Comment below what product should be pumpkin spice-ified next and we'll reach out to a company that could produce it. Happy Pumpkin Season.
