The Roundup: March
Updated: Sep 22, 2020
This month was jam packed with fantastic new media releases like Us and Queer Eye and featured a few comebacks that'll make you feel more nostalgic than #ThrowbackThursday. *cough, cough, Jonas Brothers* So we rounded up our favs to give you the best of March that you won't be able to stop watching, binging, and jamming to.
Movies & TV Releases
If you haven't seen Us, it's a must. Jordan Peele's newest horror/thriller/multi-layered indirect reflection of today's society will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. It's one of those films that you can't just watch once. If you've already seen it, but still didn't quiet get the ending, check out Jordan Peele's explanation on Empire.
*Que the Kim Kardashian ugly cry* Featuring Haley Lu Richardson and Cole Sprouse, Five Feet Apart has been dominating the YA audience since it's release on March 15th - because whose inner teen wouldn't want to see a romantically tragic comeback of Cole Sprouse. Think The Fault in Our Stars, It’s Kind of a Funny Story, and Me, Earl and the Dying Girl and you'll get the vibes.
Season 3 of Queer Eye is here and we can't get enough of it. The Fab Five headed to Kansas City and even Japan a few times to inspire confidence in viewers across the globe as they revolutionize what it means to makeover people's lifestyle. There will be pleanty of tears so get your tissues ready, because this season is filled with emotional and motivational moments that will encourage you to do whatever you put your mind to.
Music & Podcasts
Monday's are cancelled, it's officially MOODay.
This month we brought you the greatest hits and jams for all your Spring Break needs. From Travis Scott to the Jonas Brothers (yes you heard us right, but we'll get to that later), the March MOODay highlighted all our favs to listen to on the beach or blast throughout the house for that much needed 'staycation'. While this month featured plenty of throwback songs to remind us of simpler times when Spring didn't mean midterms or taxes or having to sweat it out for that summer bod, March was definitely a month of comebacks.
The biggest comeback of the entire month, maybe even the entire year, was hands-down the Jonas Brothers. Their single, Sucker, broke the internet. No one could stop talking about it. The reunion was well worth the wait and the collision of old and new fans is bringing out the teenager in all of us.
Almost as surprising as the Jonas Brother's comeback is another unexpected fusion: Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X. "I got the horses in the back" began as a TicTok meme and quickly spread to Twitter. By the end of this month you couldn't escape this country song mashup - unless your the BillBoard Top 100. Yes, people are actually fighting over 'country' music. To check out the whole, click here. Whether it's country or rap, we think it's a bop.
Now this isn't exactly a March mashup or a throwback comeback, but "Die Trying" by Michl has been my personal anthem throughout the month. It's perfect for those rainy days, so go ahead and add it to your 'Sad Boi Hours' playlist - don't try to hide it, we've all got one.
Lately I've been hooked on TED Radio Hour. Which means every Friday I listen to the newest episode and go into the weekend feeling better than ever. My favorite from this month was definitely "Shifting Time." I never seem to have time to do the things I love to do, so it was so refreshing to take a look at how I can take the power back and shift time to my needs. 10/10 recommend.
