Miley Cyrus’ Most Memorable Moments from a Self-Proclaimed #1 Fan
Updated: Dec 23, 2019
I think we can all agree that Miley Cyrus has had some serious (and questionable) transformations over the years. From Hannah Montana to swinging on a wrecking ball, I have loved her through it all. Join us on this journey of revisiting Miley’s most memorable moments.
March 2006: “Lilly, Do You Want to Know a Secret?”
Starting with the very first episode of Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus would soon be one of the world’s most famous and admired pop stars. There was something about her that made my 8-year-old self more than obsessed, and it wasn’t long before my room was covered in both Miley and Hannah posters.
April 2008: Vanity Fair Risqué Photos
What a moment for Miley! Her first controversy! Fans weren’t sure what to think of this slightly sexual photo shoot Miley did with her dad (I thought she looked hot), but little did they know, this would only be a little glimpse into Miley’s future rebellious side.
June 2009: Miley and Liam Meet
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate The Last Song? So good, so sad. This movie is where Miley would meet her future hubs, the ever-so-sexy Liam Hemsworth. Sigh.
August 2009: Party in the USA
Two words. F*****G ICONIC.
December 2010: Miley Smokes Salvia
Miley, Miley, Miley. You should have known better girly! Letting a “friend” record you…rookie mistake! Oh well, everybody makes mistakes and nobody’s perfect. Sorry, I had to :)
January 2011: End of an Era
If you were as obsessed with Hannah Montana as I was, this was a devastating moment. Watching Hannah take off her wig was surreal. My favorite TV show was really ending. Lucky for me, this was most definitely not the end of Miley’s career.
March 2012: Miley and Liam Engaged
Rumors of Miley and Liam getting married had been swirling for some time at this point, but it wasn’t until she stepped out onto the red carpet at an event with a rock on her finger that the rumors were confirmed true.
August 2012: Miley Makes the Chop
This was a sad day for fans. I was so envious of Miley’s long and wavy locks, so when she cut them all off for this…unique…look, I was a little disappointed. BUT, I always wanted to support my girl, so I quickly convinced myself I loved her new look.
August 2013: Miley and Robin Thicke VMA Performance
I honestly don’t have any words for this performance. It was memorable, to say the least. Even I, as her #1 fan, was very, very confused.
September 2013: Miley and Liam Call Off Engagement
This was another sad day for fans. It wasn’t much of a shock, though. After her interesting VMA’s performance, we all knew something was up. This breakup led to another iconic song and even more iconic music video, “Wrecking Ball”, where Miley infamously swings naked on a literal wrecking ball. While licking a sledge hammer.
October 2013: Bangerz
A different style of music for Miley, this was her first album released after the big breakup. Bangerz is strange, but still amazing. Not that I need to mention it again, I stan anything Miley, so I loved the album. Many others didn’t necessarily agree.
September 2014: Happy Hippie Foundation
One of the best things Miley has done with her platform is create the Happy Hippie Foundation, a nonprofit organization to support at-risk groups, such as the homeless, the LGBTQ+ community and more. To learn more and support the Happy Hippie Foundation, go to happyhippies.com.
August 2015: Dead Petz
If you thought Bangerz was weird, Dead Petz must’ve been absolutely insane. Not my favorite album, but of course I still listened (for obvious reasons).
October 2016: Engagement Round 2 Confirmed
Our prayers were answered! Miley and Liam officially got back together, confirmed by her flaunting her beautiful engagement ring in this picture.
May 2017: Malibu
A new era for Miley. After Dead Petz and Bangerz, this was a complete 180. A happy and carefree Miley frolicking through flowers and running around on the beach is a serious vibe.
December 2018: Miley and Liam Get Married
A day we had all been waiting (for almost 10 years, to be exact), Miley and Liam finally got married. Miley was the MOST beautiful bride there ever was.
May 2019: She Is Coming
Here we are, present day. Miley just released her EP, She is Coming, and when I first heard it, I honestly wasn’t too excited. But the more I listened, the more it grew on me. Now I absolutely love it, except for "Cattitude". I’m sorry @RuPaul, I love you but this song was just NOT it.
From "Best of Both Worlds" to "Mother's Daughter" and everything in between, Miley's journey has been a roller coaster of emotions and one of the biggest artistic transformations of our generation.
